Hail to the Chief

There is something powerful that goes with the playing of Hail to the Chief when the President of the United States enters a room.  While listening to radio coverage of yesterday’s inauguration, the moment that President Obama came onto the platform was accompanied by this.

Hail to the Chief

That said, what if we all had a song or anthem that was played when we entered the room?  What would it be and why?  Music is powerful at conveying emotion and can provide a boost to mood or set the tone for an upcoming meeting or event.    As one who enjoys ALMOST all genres of music, I appreciate how it can help people express feelings, settle down after a long day, or get psyched for an upcoming event.  I know I have my differing mood music that I listen to and I hope that you do as well.

I’d have to say that I’d love for the song “One Big Holiday” from My Morning Jacket to follow me around. It’s got a great build-up/intro… then, when it kicks in, it’s pretty much an instant energy-booster and smile-inducer. When that song comes on, I know it’s going to be a good day.
